Nancy Xu, J.D. (10/2025)
Nancy Xu, J.D., serves as the senior advisor of the STEM for Humanity Coalition. She has extensive experience in journalism and law. She holds dual law degrees (J.D. and LL.M.) from the University of Arizona and the University of Southern California, along with her journalism degree (M.A.) from the University of Mississippi and her bachelor’s degrees in English (B.A.) and Law (B.L.) from the Huazhong University of Science and Technology (HUST). As an award-winning bilingual journalist, she has written hundreds of English opinion pieces and news articles in newspapers and magazines. She completed her law internships at the LA County District Attorney’s Office and the Tax Division of the US Attorney’s Office. Nancy has received journalism awards in the US and Italy, and Best Legal Writing awards twice at law schools. Her scholarly work includes research papers, such as “Assimilation and the Asian Ethnic Media in the US: A Case Study” and “Tackling Legal Challenges of FATCA Implementation: A Tax Law Case Study.” She has also co-authored English journalism books, such as “The Strangers Among Us.” Despite her professional experience, she says that her ideal way of living diverges from the worlds of journalism and law, as both careers frequently involve dealing with conflicts or contentious issues. In her spare time, Nancy actively volunteers in communities, and served as chair of her alma mater (HUST)’s Southern California Alumni Association in 2020-22. She enjoys reading, writing, singing, playing pickleball, traveling, and creating her own fun in life.
